Columbus State Community College was founded in 1963. It is accredited by North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. It first offered distance learning courses in 1980. In fall 2003, there were 6,000 students enrolled in distance learning courses. Institutionally administered financial aid is available to distance learners.

Columbus State Community College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The College, located in central Ohio, serves more than 22,000 students each quarter. In the 2003 autumn quarter, more than 6,000 students enrolled in distance learning courses through Columbus State's Global Campus.

Columbus State's Global Campus (http://global.cscc.edu/index.asp) offers more than 220 Web-based courses. Its three online degrees comprise an Associate of Arts leading to a bachelor's degree and Associate of Applied Science degrees in business management and in marketing. Two certificate programs are offered: E-commerce and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). An associate degree in nursing is planned to be offered in 2004. Global Campus also features interactive videoconferencing courses and 20 video telecourses shown on the local educational access channel on cable television. Telecourse tapes can be rented from the Columbus State bookstore (http://bookstore.cscc.edu). Testing for out-of-state distance learning students can be arranged through the Columbus State Student Success Testing Center (http://www.cscc.edu/sstc/index.htm).

Columbus State is a member of the Ohio Learning Network (OLN), a consortium of Ohio colleges that promote distance learning (http://www.oln.org). Opportunities to gain access to courses or degrees from other Ohio institutions are available. Students may also access courses via distance learning through the Regional Learning Network (RLN), a membership agreement between Columbus State, Clark State, Edison State, and Southern State Community Colleges.

Online student services are: registration, orientation, academic advising, career counseling, and fee payment. Tuition per credit hour is $69 for residents and $152 for nonresidents.
