AST National Honor Society Student Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To reward members of the AST National Honor Society who are continuing their education by attending a CAAHEP-accredited surgical assisting program. Focus: Surgery. Qualif.: Applicants must be a member of the AST National Honor Society; must be in the process of completing a CAAHEP-accredited surgical assisting program or must begin classes within one year of receipt of scholarship; must maintain a 3.0 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale); and must remain in good standing within the institution and

must document current AST membership. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on the quality of the application materials submitted.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. To Apply: Applicant must submit a completed application form with a professional resume attached. Deadline: April 1.

Thomson Delmar Learning Surgical Technology Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To reward an individual who is striving to further his/her personal and educational goals by completing a surgical technology program. Focus: Surgery. Qualif.: Applicants must be enrolled in a CAAHEP-accredited program, or accepted to begin the program. Recipients must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. Criteria: Recipients are selected based on academic achievement and progress.

Funds Avail.: $1,000. Number Awarded: 1. To Apply: Applicants must submit a short report of 500 words or less stating the following: professional goals, strengths as a student, and reasons for wanting to enter the surgical technology profession. Applicants must also submit the completed application form. Deadline: April 1.

Foundation for Surgical Technology Advanced Education/Medical Mission Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to current AST members who are pursuing advanced education related to the practice or who are seeking to perform medical mission work. Focus: Surgery. Qualif.: Applicant must be a current AST member. Criteria: Recipients will be selected based on the committee's review of all applications submitted.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must provide a description of their membership history; an official documentation of the educational program that they are entering; and two letters of recommendation. All educational programs must include an official course outline, program fees and transcript. Deadline: There is no deadline for applications. Applications are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed individually by the national AST Foundation Committee.

Foundation for Surgical Technology Scholarships (Graduate/Scholarship)

Purpose: To encourage and reward educational excellence as well as to respond to the financial need demonstrated by the surgical technology student and offer assistance to those who seek a career in surgical technology. Focus: Surgery. Qualif.: Applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited surgical technology program and eligible to sit for the NBSTSA national surgical technologist certifying examination; must demonstrate superior academic ability; and must have a need for financial assistance. Criteria: Recipient selection is based on academic excellence and financial need.

Funds Avail.: No specific amount. To Apply: Applicants must complete the four parts of the application form: Student Responsibility; Official Transcript; Instructor Section; and Preceptor Section. Deadline: April 1.
