Zanuso, Marco
Zanuso, Marco (1916– ). Italian architect and furniture-designer. He was responsible for the Olivetti Office Buildings in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and São Paulo, Brazil (1955–7), the latter with a thin shell-vault covering central element. His Vacation-House, Arzachena, Sardinia (1963–4), was constructed of local red, yellow, and white granite, giving it a fortress-like appearance that seemed to grow naturally from the rock. Among later works the IBM Italian Factory, Santo Palomba, Rome (1979–82) and the Water Tower, Reggio Emilia (1985), may be mentioned. He was Chief Editor of Casabella (1947).
