Statham, Henry Heathcote (1839–1924). English architect. He became Editor of The Builder (then one of the most important influences on architecture throughout the British Empire) in 1884, and contributed to numerous journals as well as to Grove's Dictionary of Music (he was an accomplished musician). Among the many talented men he encouraged in architecture were Curtis Green and Beresford Pite. He designed the fronts of The Builder office and those of its neighbours in Catherine Street in 1903. He wrote A History of Architecture (1912) which, with its many excellent illustrations, was once widely used as a textbook by students (revised 1927, 1950). He despised Ruskin.
