Free style
Free style. Late-C19 style in which Classical, Domestic Revival, Gothic, Queen Anne, and vernacular themes, motifs, and elements were mingled promiscuously in eclectic compositions, sometimes with additional Elizabethan or Renaissance allusions added, as in the works of Philip Webb (especially ‘Clouds’, East Knoyle, Wilts. (1879–91)).
