Farnham, Richard de (fl. 1242–7). Probably the master-mason of the Chapel of the Nine Altars, Durham Cathedral (begun 1242), the design of which is attributed to Elias de Dereham. He is described as architector nove fabrice Dunelm (architect of the new fabric of Durham) in a contemporary document, which points to his considerable importance.
