Chevakinsky, Savva Ivanovich
Chevakinsky, Savva Ivanovich (1713–c.1774–8). Russian architect. He designed the Nikolsky military-naval Cathedral of St Nicholas, St Petersburg (1753–62), arguably the best late-Baroque church in Russia. He was also involved from 1745 in the early designs of the development of Tsarskoe Selo before Rastrelli took over. His later work was influenced by Neo-Classicism.
