Born August 31, 1952, in Macon, GA; son of Arthur W., Jr., and Charlotte Parsons; married Carol Molina. Education: Berry College, B.A. (magna cum laude), 1974; Emory University, M.T.S. (cum laude), 1981; Georgia State University, M.A., 1982; Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Ph.D. (philosophy), 1986; University of Pittsburgh, Ph.D. (history and philosophy of science), 1996.
