SIDELIGHTS: Gary Null has penned many books on health, diet, and alternative medicine. He holds a doctoral degree in nutrition, and has appeared in specials and series about naturopathic health solutions on PBS. Book critics have been generally positive in their response to Null's volumes; for instance, a Publishers Weekly reviewer of Women's Health Solutions wrote that "anyone interested in alternative therapies will find this guide invaluable." Though noting that some of Null's advice on diet and medicine is controversial, another critic for Publishers Weekly felt that he "offers some helpful guidance for the challenges of living in our time" in The Baby Boomer's Guide to Getting It Right the Second Time Around. Booklist contributor Penny Spokes praised his Secrets of the Sacred White Buffalo: Native American Healing Remedies, Rites, and Rituals as "a well-written introduction to Native American cosmology, sacred practices and traditional remedies." Library Journal reviewer Rebecca Cress-Ingebo, discussing Null's The Complete Encyclopedia of Natural Healing, concluded that its "easy-to-use format will indeed appeal to the lay reader."
