Born 1911, in Oakland, CA; died July 28, 2006, in Hillsboro, OR; married Florence Warrens; children: Warren, Sarah Hedgepeth Boly. Education: University of California, Berkeley, graduated, 1933, M.S., 1940, Ph.D., 1952.

CAREER:

Served as director of Pacific Marine Station, Dillon Beach, CA, and Marine Science Center at Oregon State University, Newport; taught at University of Texas, Scripps Institute of Oceanography at University of California, San Diego, University of the Pacific, and Oregon State University; founder of Society for the Prevention of Progress.
