PERSONAL:

Born July 9, 1863, in Hartford, CT; died October 24, 1948, in Arcadia, CA; son of Edwin and Mary (Malloy) Burnell; married Mary Irene Lamoreaux, 1891; children: Genevieve (a foundation executive). Education: University of Minnesota, graduated; Morgan Park Theological Seminary, graduated, 1887; also attended Union Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL, and Christian Science Theological Seminary.

CAREER:

Christian Science Theological Seminary, teacher; real estate developer in Chicago, IL, and, beginning c. 1895, in California. Burnell Foundation, founder of "New Thought" ministry and public speaker. Served as officer of California Irrigated Farms Co., San Joaquin Farms Co., and Rich Groves Land Co.
