Trier, Johann
Trier, Johann, German organist and composer; b. Themar, Sept. 2,1716; d. Zittau (buried), Jan. 6,1790. He matriculated at the Univ. of Leipzig (1741). After serving as director of the Leipzig collegium musicum (1746-47),he was organist at St. John’s Church in Zittau (from 1754). He was highly respected as an organist. Among his compositions are 2 cantata cycles for the church year and various pieces for organ and clavier.
