Srebotnjak, Alojz

Srebotnjak, Alojz, Slovenian composer and pedagogue; b. Postojna, June 27, 1931. He studied with Škerjanc at the Ljubljana Academy of Music (1953–58), with Porrena in Rome (1958–59), with Fricker in London (1960–61), and in Paris (1963). After teaching at the Ljubljana Pedagogical Academy (1964–70), he was a prof. of composition at the Ljubljana Academy of Music (1970–95). In his works, Srebotnjak has made effective use of various modern techniques, including atonality and serialism.
