Sprongl, Norbert

Sprongl, Norbert, Austrian composer; b. Ober-markersdorf bei Retz, April 30, 1892; d. Mödling, near Vienna, April 26, 1983. He studied at the Vienna Cons. (graduated, 1933) with J. Marx (composition), N. Kahrer (piano), and R. Lach (theory). Following the development of a style of “free dissonance” modeled after Bartok and Hindemith, he wrote 166 works.
