Salonen, Sulo (Nikolai)
Salonen, Sulo (Nikolai) , Finnish organist and composer; b. Pyhtää, Jan. 27, 1899; d. Porvoo, May 21, 1976. He was a pupil of Furuhjelm and Palmgren at the Helsinki Cons. (1917–22; 1926–29). He then was organist in Jacobstad (1929–48) and Sibbo (1952–64).

Passion Cantata (1942); Viisauden ylistys (In Praise of Wisdom) for Narrator, Voices, and Instruments (1961); Requiem (1962); Wind Quintet (1962); String Trio (1971); 2 string quartets (1971, 1972); Cum jubilo for Chorus, Organ, and Percussion (Helsinki, Jan. 24, 1974); about 50 motets; numerous organ pieces.
