Sainton-Dolby, Charlotte (Helen) (b London, 1821; d London, 1885). Eng. contralto. Début as soloist London 1842. Sang at Leipzig Gewandhaus concerts 1845–6. Mendelssohn wrote cont. part in Elijah for her. Married violinist Prosper Sainton 1860. Opened singing sch. in London 1872. Comp. 4 cantatas.
