Rebelo (or Rebello, Rabello, Rabelo), João Soares or João Lourenço , Portuguese composer; b. Caminha, 1610; d. Apelacâo (now in Lisbon), Nov. 16, 1661. He was maestro to King John IV of Portugal, who dedicated to Rebelo his Defensa de la mùsica moderna (1649). Psalms a 16, Magnificats, Lamentations, and Misereres by Rebelo were publ. in Rome (1657).
