Porter, Samuel

Porter, Samuel , English organist and composer; b. Norwich, 1733; d. Canterbury, Dec. 11, 1810. He was a pupil of Maurice Greene. From 1757 to 1803 he was organist at Canterbury Cathedral. After his death, his son W.J. Porter publ., his Cathedral Music.
