Perlongo, Daniel

Perlongo, Daniel, American composer and teacher; b. Gaastra, Mich., Sept. 23,1942. He was a student of Bassett, Wilson, and Finney at the Univ. of Mich. (M.M., 1966), and of Petrassi at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome (1966–68). He won the American Prix de Rome and was in residence at the American Academy in Rome (1970–72). Upon returning to the U.S., he became an assoc. prof. of composition and theory at Ind. Univ. of Pa. In 1980 and 1995 he held NEA fellowships, and in 1982 a Guggenheim fellowship.
