Pellegrin, Claude Mathieu

Pellegrin, Claude Mathieu , French organist and composer; b. Aix-en-Provence, Oct. 25, 1682; d. there, Oct. 10,1763. He entered the Sauveur choir school in 1696 and studied with the maître de chapelle Poitevin, whom he succeeded as organist at Aix Cathedral in 1706. In 1717 he was ordained a priest and in 1719 he was made beneficier. After serving as chapelain ordinarire at Sainte-Chapelle in Paris (1724–31), he resumed his post at Aix Cathedral, which he retained until 1748. He composed a Te Deum (1745), 2 Magnificats, and several motets.
