Ord, Boris (Bernhard) (b Bristol, 1897; d Cambridge, 1961). Eng. organist, choirmaster, and composer. On staff of Cologne Opera 1927. Org. and choirmaster, King's Coll., Cambridge, 1929–57, popularizing through radio the famous Christmas Eve Fest. of Nine Lessons and Carols; lect. in mus., Cambridge Univ. 1936–58; cond. Cambridge Univ. Mus. Soc. 1936–54. Wrote one carol, Adam lay y-bounden (1957). CBE 1958.
