Nozzari, Andrea
Nozzari, Andrea, Italian tenor; b. Vertrova, near Bergamo, 1775; d. Naples, Dec. 12, 1832. He studied with Petrobelli in Bergamo, making his operatic debut in 1794. He made appearances in Rome, Milan, and Paris; was a principal tenor in Naples (1811–25), where he created tenor roles in several operas of Rossini. He then retired and taught singing.
