Nobel, Felix de
Nobel, Felix de, Dutch choral conductor, pianist, and teacher; b. Haarlem, May 27, 1907; d. Amsterdam, March 25, 1981. He studied with Martha Autengruber (piano) and Dresden (composition) at the Amsterdam Cons. He was a piano accompanist with the Dutch Radio and was a pianist in the Concergebouw Quintet. From 1939 to 1973 he conducted the Netherlands Chamber Choir, which he led on numerous tours abroad. He also taught at the Amsterdam Cons, and the Royal Cons, of Music at The Hague. As a choral conductor, his expansive repertoire extended from Obrecht to contemporary Dutch composers.
