Nelson, Judith (Anne née Manes)
Nelson, Judith (Anne née Manes), American soprano; b. Chicago, Sept. 10, 1939. She studied at St. Olaf Coll. in Northfield, Minn. She sang with music groups of the Univ. of Chicago and the Univ. of Calif, at Berkeley, making her operatic debut as Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea in Brussels in 1979. She appeared widely as a soloist and recitalist. Although she is particularly noted for her performances of Baroque music, she also introduced compositions by American and English composers.
