Münch, Ernst
Münch, Ernst, Alsatian organist and choral conductor, father of Charles Munch and uncle of Hans Münch; b. Niederbronn, Dec. 31, 1859; d. Strasbourg, April 1, 1928. He was appointed organist at St. Wilhelm (St. Guillaume) Church in Strasbourg in 1882, where he founded a choir which attained a great renown for its performance of Bach’s cantatas and passions. Albert Schweitzer served as organist at these performances.
