Mooser, (Jean Pierre Joseph) Aloys
Mooser, (Jean Pierre Joseph) Aloys, noted Swiss organist and organ builder, great-grandfather of R(obert) Aloys Mooser; b. Niederhelfenschwyl, June 27, 1770; d. Fribourg, Dec. 19, 1839. He studied with his father, the Alsatian organ builder Joseph Anton Mooser (1731–92), who settled in Fribourg in the 1760s. Aloys built the outstanding organ at St. Nicolas’s Cathedral there (1824–34).
