Mompou, Federico
Mompou, Federico (b Barcelona, 1893; d Barcelona, 1987). Sp. (Catalan) pianist and composer. Wrote most of his works in Barcelona 1914–21, mainly pf. pieces in what he called primitivista style (no bar-divisions, key-signatures, or cadences). Lived in Paris 1921–41, when he again returned to Barcelona and composed further pf. works and songs, religious settings for ch. and orch., and mus. for guitar.
