Lukomska, Halina

Lukomska, Halina, Polish soprano; b. Suchedniów, May 29, 1929. She studied at the Warsaw Academy of Music (graduated, 1954), with Giorgio Favaretto at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena, and with Toti dal Monte in Venice. In 1956 she captured first prize in the ’s-Hertogenbosch competition. From 1960 she pursued a concert career that took her all over the world. In 1973 she toured North America as a soloist with the Cleveland Orch. She became especially noted for her performances of contemporary music, including the most daunting of avant-garde scores.
