Laskine, Lily
Laskine, Lily, noted French harpist and teacher; b. Paris, Aug. 31, 1893; d. there, Jan. 4, 1988. She studied at the Paris Cons, with Alphonse Hasselmans and Georges Marty, winning a premier prix there in 1905. She was then a member of the orch. of the Paris Opéra (1909–26), and from 1934 made numerous tours as a soloist. She was a prof, of harp at the Paris Cons. (1948–58). In 1936 she was awarded the cross of the Légion d’honneur, and in 1958 she was made a chévalier.
