Jambe de Fer, Philibert, French composer and writer on music; b. Champlitte, c. 1515; d. probably in Lyons, c. 1566. He spent most of his life in Lyons. In addition to his numerous polyphonic settings of French Psalms trs., he wrote the significant treatise Epitome musical des tons, sons et accordz, es voix humains, fleustes d’Alleman, fleustes à neuf trous, violes, & violons (Lyons, 1556).
