Jacques, (Thomas) Reginald
Jacques, (Thomas) Reginald, respected English organist and conductor; b. Ashby de la Zouch, Jan. 13, 1894; d. Stowmarket, June 2, 1969. He was educated at Queen’s Coll., Oxford, where he became organist and director of music in 1926; was also conductor of the Oxford Orchestral Soc. (1930–36). From 1931 to 1960 he was conductor of the Bach Choir in London. In 1936 he founded his own Jacques Orch., which he conducted until 1960. In 1954 he was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
