Habert, Johannes Evangelista
Habert, Johannes Evangelista, Bohemian organist, composer, and writer on music; b. Oberplan, Oct. 18, 1833; d. Gmunden, Sept. 1, 1896. He was organist at Gmunden from 1861. He wrote sacred music and organ pieces. A complete ed. of his works was publ, by Breitkopf & Härtel. He was founder and ed. of the Zeitschrift für katholische Kirchenmusik (1868–83), and also publ. Beiträge zur Lehre von der musikalischen Komposition (4 vols., 1889 et seq.).
