Gordigiani, Luigi
Gordigiani, Luigi, Italian composer, brother of Giovanni Battista Gordigiani; b. Florence, June 21, 1806; d. Modena, May 1, 1860. He is chiefly known for his more than 300 songs for voice and piano, canzonette and canti populari based on Italian folk tunes; Gordigiani wrote the words for many himself. He also publ. a collection of songs based on Tuscan folk poems. Other works include 10 operas, 3 cantatas, a ballet, and an oratorio.
