Description:

Independent nondenominational, comprehensive, coed. Awards bachelor's and master's degrees. Founded 1889. Setting: 500-acre small town campus with easy access to Boston. Endowment: $26.9 million. Educational spending 2003-04: $8709 per student. Total enrollment: 1,672. Faculty: 161 (89 full-time, 72 part-time). Student-undergrad faculty ratio is 14:1. 987 applied, 81% were admitted. 25% from top 10% of their high school class, 52% from top quarter, 71% from top half. 9 National Merit Scholars. Full-time: 1,587 students, 65% women, 35% men. Part-time: 30 students, 70% women, 30% men. Costs Per Year:

Application fee: $40. Comprehensive fee: $27,540 includes full-time tuition ($20,494), mandatory fees ($954), and college room and board ($6092). College room only: $4080. Room and board charges vary according to board plan and housing facility.

Collegiate Environment:

Orientation program. Drama-theater group, choral group, student-run newspaper. Social organizations: 35 open to all. Most popular organizations: Student Government Association, student ministries, diverse music ensembles. Major annual events: Center for Christian Studies Spring Symposium, Homecoming, Day of Prayer and Fasting. Student services: health clinic, personal-psychological counseling.
