Gallo, Domenico (fl. mid-18th cent.). It. composer and violinist. May have been born in Venice c.1730. Pubd. 6 sonatas for 2 vn. and continuo in Venice and another set of 6 sonatas for 2 fl. and continuo in London. Thirty-six of his trio sonatas are in the coll. at Burghley House, Stamford, Lincs., and Naples and Bologna Cons. have some of his church mus. A set of 12 of his trio sonatas was pubd. in 1780 as by Pergolesi. Some were used by Stravinsky in Pulcinella on the wrong assumption that they were by Pergolesi.
