Fujikawa, Mayumi

Fujikawa, Mayumi, Japanese violinist; b. Asahigawa, July 27, 1946. She studied at the Toho School of Music in Tokyo and at the Antwerp Cons., and later took lessons with Leonid Kogan in Nice. In 1970 she won 2nd prize in the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and 1st prize in the Vieuxtemps Competition in Verviers, Belgium. She then appeared as soloist with major orchs. in Europe and America and was active as a recitalist and chamber music player.
