Forti Anton
Forti, Anton, famous Austrian tenor and baritone;b. Vienna, June 8, 1790; d. there, June 16, 1859. He first sang in Esterhaza (1807–11), then went to Vienna, where he appeared at the Theater an der Wien (1811–13). In 1813 he joined the Court Theater, singing both tenor and baritone roles; also sang in Prague, Hamburg, and Berlin, continuing to sing until late in his life. He was particularly esteemed for his performances in the roles of Figaro and Don Giovanni.
