Drejsl, Radim

Drejsl, Radim, Czech composer; b. Dobruska, April 29, 1923; d. (suicide) Prague, April 20, 1953. He studied piano at the Prague Cons, and composition with Bofkovec at the Prague Academy of Musical Arts (1946–50). From 1949 until his death he was music director of the Vit Nejedl Army Artistic Ensemble.

2 piano suites (1945,1946); 2 piano sonatas (1946, 1947); Flute Sonatina (1947); Bassoon Sonatina (1948); Spring for Wind Quintet (1948); Sym. for Strings (1948); Piano Concerto (1948–9); Dozinkovd Suite (Harvest Home Suite) for Oboe or English Horn and Piano (1949–50); military marches; choruses; songs.
