Dolmetsch, Carl (Frederick) (b Fontenay-s-Bois, 1911; d Haslemere, 1997). Eng. recorder-player, son of Arnold Dolmetsch. Was a virtuoso, touring the world. Also maker of recorders and player of vn. and lute. Ed. of recorder mus. Dir., Haslemere Fest. from 1940. CBE 1954.
