Desderi, Ettore

Desderi, Ettore, Italian composer and pedagogue;b. Asti, Dec. 10, 1892; d. Florence, Nov. 23, 1974. He studied with Luigi Perrachio at the Turin Cons, and then with Franco Alfano in Bologna. From 1933 to 1941 he was director of the Liceo Musicale in Alessandria and, from 1941 to 1951, a teacher of composition at the Milan Cons. From 1951 to 1963 he was director of the Bologna Cons. He publ. La musica contemporanea (Turin, 1930) and numerous articles in Italian and German journals.

Works

Intermezzi all’ Antigone for Orch. (1924); Job, biblical cantata (1927); Sinfonia davidica for Soloists, Chorus, and Orch. (1929); Violin Sonata; Cello Sonata; many choral works.
