Darre, Jeanne-Marie

Darre, Jeanne-Marie , French pianist and teacher;b. Givet, July 30, 1905. She studied with Marguerite Long and Isidor Philipp in Paris. After numerous concerts in France and elsewhere in Europe, she made her U.S. debut in N.Y. (1962). She then made a successful series of tours in the U.S., appearing with major American orchs. In 1958 she became a teacher at the Paris Cons. A virtuoso in the grand manner, Darré produced a sensation by playing several piano concertos on a single night.
