Cutler, Henry Stephen
Cutler, Henry Stephen , American organist and composer; b. Boston, Oct. 13, 1824; d. there, Dec. 5, 1902. He was a pupil of George F. Root in Boston. After further training in Frankfurt am Main, he was active as a church organist in Boston, N.Y., Philadelphia, and other cities. He publ. five vols. of sacred music and composed some 20 organ pieces. His best known works are the hymns The Son of God Goes Forth to War and Brightest and Best of the Sons of Morning.
