Conrad von Zabern , German music theorist; b. Zabern, date unknown; d. c. 1478. He was educated at the Univ. of Heidelberg (B.A., 1410; M.A., 1414), where he later taught, and then at the univs. of Frieburg im Breisgau, Basel, and Ingolstadt. His extant treatises comprise Novellus musicae artis tractatus (c. 1465), Opusculum de monochordo (Mainz, c. 1470), De modo bene cantandi choralem cantum (Mainz, 1474), and Lere von Koergesanck (c. 1474). They have been ed. by K.-W. Giimpel as Die Musiktraktate C.s v. Z. (Mainz, 1956).
