Brown, Maurice John Edwin (b London, 1906; d Marlborough, 1975). English writer on music. Authority on Schubert, writing critical biog. (1958, rev. 1977, Ger. trans. 1969) and collab. on research with O. E. Deutsch. Also wrote Essays on Schubert (1966), Schubert Songs (1967), and Schubert Symphonies (1970). Compiled thematic index of Chopin's comps. (1960).
