Binkerd, Gordon (Ware)

Binkerd, Gordon (Ware), American composer and teacher; b. Lynch, Nebr., May 22, 1916. He studied piano in S.Dak., and composition with Rogers at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., and with Piston at Harvard Univ. From 1949 to 1971 he was a member of the faculty of the Univ. of 111. He received a Guggenheim fellowship in 1959.
