Bergiron de Briou, Nicolas-Antoine
Bergiron de Briou, Nicolas-Antoine, Seigneur du Fort Michon, French composer; b. Lyons, Dec. 12, 1690; d. there, before April 27, 1768. He studied classical literature and law at the Univ. of Paris. With J.P. Christin, he established in 1713 the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Lyons, with which he remained associated in various capacities until 1764. He composed a number of cantatas and motets, divertissements, and several operas.
