Anievas, Agustin

Anievas, Agustin, American pianist and teacher; b. N.Y., June 11, 1934. He commenced piano lessons at age 4 with his mother; following appearances as a child pianist, he pursued formal training with Steuermann, Samaroff, and Marcus at N.Y/s Juilliard School of Music. In 1952 he made his formal debut as soloist with the Little Orch. Soc. of N.Y.; after winning the Concert Artists Guild Award in 1959 and capturing 1st prize in the Mitropoulos Competition in 1961, he toured widely; served as prof. of piano at Brooklyn Coll. of the City Univ. of N.Y. (from 1974).
