White Hunter, Black Heart
White Hunter, Black Heart ★★★ 1990 (PG)
Eastwood casts himself against type as Huston-esque director who is more interested in hunting large tusked creatures than shooting the film he came to Africa to produce. Based on Peter Viertel's 1953 account of his experiences working on James Agee's script for Huston's “African Queen.” Eastwood's Huston impression is a highlight, though the story occasionally wanders off with the elephants. 112m/C VHS, DVD . Clint Eastwood, Marisa Berenson, George Dzundza, Jeff Fahey, Timothy Spall, Charlotte Cornwell, Mel Martin, Alun Armstrong, Richard Vanstone; D: Clint Eastwood; W: Peter Viertel, James Bridges, Burt Kennedy; C: Jack N. Green; M: Lennie Niehaus.
