Kenji (Tadanobu) is a suicidal ex-yakuza living in exile in Bangkok where he works as a librarian at the Japan Cultural Center. He meets Noi (Boonyasak), an equally suicidal hooker and is soon living with her at her family's derelict beach house. The opposites (he has OCD, she lives in filth) attract and various magical realism sequences take place until the past comes to haunt them both.
