The Ground Truth ★★½ 2006 (R)

Compelling but unabashedly biased, go-for-the-jugular documentary about the effect of the Iraq War on the soldiers who've fought it. Filmmaker Foulkrod interviews scores of vets about the violence of the war (especially against Iraqi civilians) and the struggle to reintegrate into American society in the face of an uncaring government bureaucracy. The movie raises important points about the effect of war on those who wage it but doesn't maintain focus, leaving some of its most effective arguments unresolved. The combination of bias and disturbing violence makes this one most effective for those who already agree with its premise, but doesn't reach out to those who think otherwise. 72m/C DVD . USD: Patricia Foulkrod; C: Reuben Aaronson; M: Dave Hodge.
